QExtra presentTwo New Plays Inspired by Old Classics
By Lyn Thornton & Jenny LewisThe Tyring House & Gilgamesh Retold, performed back-to-back
For the first production of our Autumn QExtra Season, we present the debut of two stunning new plays, both of which explore old classics in new ways.
The Tyring House
by Lyn Thornton
This razor-sharp play captures Shakespeare’s most iconic characters through the eyes of a contemporary poet. A dynamic production weaving music with lyrical storytelling, innovatively performed by Questors actors.
Gilgamesh Retold
by Jenny Lewis
You may have heard of The Epic of Gilgamesh, which is regarded as the earliest surviving notable piece of literature. But you have never seen it told like this. A story of longing, supernatual forces, and fantastical beings - reimagined for a modern audience. This striking new adaptation of the famous Mesopotamian narrative poem is visceral and gripping in equal measures.
Both plays are directed by Paul Collins (Director of The Questors highly acclaimed production of Consent).
QExtra Events are one-off events run buy members of The Questors. These include experimental performances, rehearsed readings and workshop performances of new plays.
